Curriculum Framework

The MYP Curriculum emphasises the importance of communication, intercultural awareness, and global engagement as essential components to creating future global leaders.

  • At DIA, subjects taught through the MYP programme encourage students to make connections between subject areas and discover how to self-manage and organise themselves through the Approaches to Learning continuum.

  • These subjects include - Language & Literature, Language Acquisition, Mathematics, Sciences, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Physical &. Health Education, Digital Design, Personal-Social-Health Education.

  • Through the implementation of eight subject groups, students learn how to take an active role in their learning and exemplify the IB Learner Profile.

  • Students learn to explore bigger ideas through Global Contexts - linking learning to real-life challenges, our common humanity, and the shared guardianship of the planet, as well as through Service & Action.

IB Learner Profile

Central to all IB Programmes is the IB Learner Profile. Made up of ten attributes that support all members of the school community to work towards and demonstrate as lifelong learners. At DIA, students and staff demonstrating these attributes are celebrated and recognized throughout the academic year.

10 Reasons

The IB Programmes foster critical thinking, problem solving, and encouraging students to play positive roles in their communities and society as global citizens. All learning is based on real-world situations that allows students to understand the relevance of what they are learning. Students are taught to think conceptually, exposing them to familiar and unfamiliar situations, and how to apply their knowledge to different situations.

MYP Personal Project

The MYP Personal Project is the culminating experience in the last year of the programme. Students are given the opportunity to choose project they're passionate to learn more about and create a product or outcome. "The personal project formally assesses students’ approaches to learning (ATL) skills for self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration...The report is assessed by their supervisor and externally moderated by the IB to ensure a globally consistent standard of excellence. Each project is awarded a final achievement grade".

Words from the DIA Family

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank you and all the school teachers for the past 5 years and for educating my three daughters to a level that they feel they are different from other schools’ students when they joined university. That was due to good education level and good management of the school which I will keep recommending to my other colleagues.”
