Teachers Training Policy

DIA is opening its doors to interested teachers who would like exposure to an international curriculum. We are now accepting applications for our Teacher Training Program 2017/18.

Dar es Salaam International Academy (DIA), is committed to being an internationally minded school, which is locally rooted within Tanzania.

It is a school which has grown out of a desire to provide an international education to Tanzanians as well as other culturally diverse students. As such, DIA recruits both internationally, but also locally and aims to have Tanzanian staff within every teaching department.

The main objective of this programme is to prepare young Tanzanian teachers to teach the International Baccalaureate (IB) to a very high standard. Those aspiring to this demanding role must have quality preparation and support, which this programme aims to provide.

Eligibility for Teacher Training Program 


  • Tanzanian
  • Degree in Education
  • Possess a high standard of written and spoken English
  • Excellent academic track record
  • Is able to attend all workshops as well as the Mentor Support hours if shortlisted

The cover letter should include:


  • Motivation to apply for the internship program
  • Knowledge of any IB Programmes
  • Why you feel you are a good candidate for the internship program



You are required to submit two letters of recommendation

  • Letter 1: Academic reference from current or past teacher/professor
  • Letter 2: Personal character reference form someone who knows you

Where are DIA teachers and students from?

DIA is a truly international environment, with teachers and students coming from all across the globe. We have up to 35+ nationalities at the school.


Does DIA provide transport?

No, DIA does not provide transport.


Does DIA have a canteen?

There is a canteen on DIA’s campus, which is run by an outsourced company. Staff are allowed to purchase snacks and drinks from the canteen.
